Take a free diagnostic, discover your score, and improve through bite-sized daily challenges.
A live lobby sounds social. It dies the first time one of you has practice, a shift, or a parent who wants the table. Async means the round waits. You finish five questions. They finish five later. Scores meet in the middle. That is SAT prep with a friend that survives a real week.
Start from Challenge when you are ready to send the round. This article is not that page. The page is the button. The habit is: one friend, one round, not a group chat of twelve people who never start.
The next SAT dates after this update are October 3, 2026 and November 7, 2026. Two people who sent ten rounds will beat two people who planned a Saturday study group and cancelled it. Official full-lengths stay in Bluebook. The duel is the glue between those tests.
What Stays Fair When You Are Not in the Same Room
Under Settings the practice timer is standard, extended (+50%), double (+100%), or off. That is practice, not an exam right. Duels keep standard timing so a match stays fair. Your friend does not get a longer clock because you turned yours off in solo practice. If the countdown stresses you, turn it off for ordinary quizzes. Leave duels on shared standard time. That is the point of a match.
Pick one person. Not a class group.
Send a round. Five questions is the whole sitting.
Do your own pass without waiting on read receipts.
Look at the comparison when both are done. Read the explanation on the ones you missed.
Send another tomorrow. The streak still counts on your side even if they are slow.
The bank is 25,000+ questions on iPhone, Android, and the web with the same account. Free accounts get three quizzes a day, five questions each. Ace at $19/mo removes the cap. You can still take the solo quiz on days they disappear. The friend is a reason to open the app, not a hostage situation.
College Board SSD can grant extra time when they approve the request. An IEP or 504 plan does not transfer onto Saturday by itself. Families cannot access SSD Online. The steps live on the SAT accommodations guide.
If ADHD is why you need a hook, the student page is best SAT prep app for ADHD. A duel is one hook. A streak is the other. You do not need both on day one. Create an account at register so the round has a name on it. Broader SAT practice lives on SAT prep.
What We Do Not Promise
We do not say a duel raises a score by a published number. We do not say you should skip Bluebook because you beat a friend. We say some people only open the app when a round is waiting, and the product is built for that without forcing a live call. One friend is enough. A silent week from them is not a reason for you to skip your three quizzes.
Next Step
Do five questions yourself in the quiz. Then send one round to one person. Compare after. That is SAT prep with a friend.
Frequently Asked Questions About SAT Prep With a Friend
How do I do SAT prep with a friend?
Send an async duel. They take it later. You compare after. It is not a live lobby and you do not both need a free hour.
Do duels use extra time if I have ADHD?
No. Duels keep standard timing for everyone. Extra time on the real SAT is an SSD file. Practice timer off is for solo quizzes.
What if my friend never finishes the round?
Your solo quizzes still count. Three a day is the free cap. The friend is optional glue, not the whole plan.
Should we sit a full SAT together?
Sit official full-lengths in Bluebook, each on your own clock. Use duels for the days in between. Next dates are October 3 and November 7, 2026.
Is this the same as a study group?
No. A study group is a calendar event. A duel is a letter. Use the group if you already have it. Use the duel on the nights the group dies.
