Three scores make the Composite
English, Math, and Reading. Science is optional and reported separately. Larry practices all four and rates Science on its own so it never inflates the composite.
English
Grammar, punctuation, and rhetorical skills. Enhanced ACT: 50 questions in 35 minutes.
Math
Pre-Algebra through Trigonometry. Calculator allowed. Four answer choices, not five.
Reading
Three passages. More time per question than the legacy ACT.
Science
Optional. Does not count toward the Composite. Larry still practices it and rates it separately.
Writing (Optional)
One essay prompt in 40 minutes. Scored 2–12 separately. Some colleges require it — check with your target schools.
How ACT Scoring Works
Since September 2025, the Composite is the average of English, Math, and Reading, rounded to the nearest whole number. Science does not go into it.
