SAT Answer Sheet: Where to Find It and How to Use It (2026)
Looking for an SAT answer sheet? College Board's paper practice tests have you circle answers in the test book. Here is how to record, check and score them.

What College Board gives you with a paper SAT practice test, how to set up your own answer sheet, and how to turn your answers into a score.
If you are looking for a printable SAT answer sheet to go with an official practice test, here is the short answer: College Board doesn't currently publish one. Its paper practice tests ask you to circle your answers directly in the test book, and the bundles come with a scoring guide whose answer key doubles as the place you mark what you got right. On the digital SAT itself there is no bubble sheet at all, because you answer on screen in Bluebook.
That still leaves a good reason to want a separate sheet: it lets you reuse a printed test, check answers quickly, and score a full test without flipping through a stack of pages. Below is what each official download contains, a simple layout for your own answer sheet, and the scoring steps, with links to our answer walkthroughs for each test.

Not for the current tests. College Board's full-length paper practice tests page (checked October 2026) lists three files in each bundle, and none of them is an answer sheet:
File in each bundle
What it is for
SAT Practice Test (PDF)
The full nonadaptive test. You answer in the book itself.
Scoring guide
The answer key, worksheets to count your correct answers, and the raw-score conversion table.
Answer explanations
Why each correct answer is right and why each wrong choice is not the best option.
The page puts it plainly: circle your answers on the PDF, or "keep track of them on a separate piece of paper." The test book's own directions say the same thing under the heading Marking Your Answers: circle only one answer per question, and if you change your mind, completely erase the circle. For the math questions where you write in your own answer, you write it next to or under the question and circle it.
If you have seen a printable SAT bubble sheet online, it was made for an older version of the test or by someone other than College Board. The answer sheet link on College Board's old practice site no longer serves a file: it now redirects to the SAT Suite homepage.
Which SAT Practice Tests Have Paper Versions?
College Board's paper page lists SAT bundles for Practice Tests 4 through 11, along with separate PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and PSAT 8/9 bundles. The cover of each SAT test says it is for "students who will be taking the digital SAT in nondigital format." Here is where to find the answers to each one:
Tests 1, 2, and 3 are no longer on the page, and their old PDF links now open the paper practice page instead of a file. If you are working from an old printout, our walkthroughs for Test 1, Test 2, and Test 3 are still up. For all of them in one place, see our SAT practice test answer keys overview.

How to Make Your Own SAT Answer Sheet
Circling in the book works, but a separate sheet makes checking faster and keeps the test clean for a second pass at the questions you missed. The paper tests are longer than the adaptive SAT, which has 98 questions in 2 hours 14 minutes, so number your sheet to match the paper form, module by module, using the counts and times printed in the test book:
Block on your sheet
Number the lines
Standard time
What goes on each line
Reading and Writing, Module 1
1 to 33
39 minutes
One letter, A to D
Reading and Writing, Module 2
1 to 33
39 minutes
One letter, A to D
Break
10 minutes
Math, Module 1
1 to 27
43 minutes
A letter, or a written answer
Math, Module 2
1 to 27
43 minutes
A letter, or a written answer
That is 120 lines in total, 66 for Reading and Writing and 54 for Math, matching the raw-score ranges in the scoring guide. A few details make the sheet work:
Restart the numbering in each module. The answer key is organized by module, so "Math Module 2, question 14" needs to be easy to find.
Give the math lines room. For student-produced responses, the test book allows up to 5 characters for a positive answer and up to 6 for a negative one, and says to write a mixed number as an improper fraction or a decimal.
Add a narrow column for a mark such as a question mark next to any answer you guessed. When you review, a correct guess deserves the same attention as a miss.
Leave nothing blank. College Board's tips for paper practice say "It's OK to guess," and you don't lose points for a wrong answer.
College Board's tips for taking a paper practice test list what you need: a printer, a pencil, a calculator, and a timer. A calculator is permitted for every math question. Time each module separately and stop when its time is up. The test book's directions say you may not turn to any other module. If you are approved for extra time, the test book says to give yourself that time when you practice.
How to Score a Paper SAT Practice Test
Each bundle's scoring guide breaks the job into setup, scoring and calculation. In practice that is four steps:
Check your answers against the answer key in the scoring guide. Its answer key pages have a column to mark each correct answer, module by module.
Add up your raw scores. Module 1 plus Module 2 gives a Reading and Writing raw score from 0 to 66 and a Math raw score from 0 to 54. There is no penalty for a wrong answer, so the raw score is simply your number correct.
Convert each raw score with the guide's conversion table, which gives a lower and an upper section score on the 200 to 800 scale.
Add the two lower values and the two upper values to get your total score range on the 400 to 1600 scale.
For example, on the Practice Test 4 scoring guide, a Reading and Writing raw score of 50 converts to 610 to 630, and a Math raw score of 40 converts to 590 to 620. Together that is a total range of 1200 to 1250. Each test has its own conversion table, so always use the one from the same bundle.
Why a range? The guide explains that its method is "a simplified (and therefore slightly less precise)" version of the scoring used on test day. Treat the middle of the range as your estimate. Then open the answer explanations for every question you missed or guessed, because that third file is where a practice test turns into points. Our SAT score calculator guide explains how section scores add up if you want to check your math.
Paper or Bluebook: Which Should You Use?
The SAT itself is digital. College Board's SAT page says Bluebook "must be installed before test day," and the app supports Mac and Windows devices, iPads, and school-managed Chromebooks. On test day you select answers on screen, and full-length Bluebook practice tests are scored for you: when you finish, you can view your scores in My Practice.
That is why College Board recommends the paper PDFs "only for students who will test with paper-based accommodations on test day." The paper forms are nonadaptive, and the page notes that using them "does not mean you have been approved" for an accommodation. Accommodations are requested through your school's SSD coordinator, at least seven weeks before test day. Students approved for a paper braille test should contact Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) for a practice test.
For everyone else, the best order is to take the Bluebook versions first and save the paper forms for drilling or for a printed review. Our Bluebook vs paper practice tests guide compares the two in detail, and a printed test is still a useful way to slow down and study the questions you got wrong.
Frequently Asked Questions About the SAT Answer Sheet
Is there an official SAT answer sheet I can print?
Not for the current practice tests. College Board's paper bundles contain the test, a scoring guide, and answer explanations. You circle answers in the test book or keep track of them on your own sheet of paper.
Does the digital SAT use a bubble sheet?
No. The SAT is taken in the Bluebook app, and you choose or type your answers on screen. Paper test books are used by students approved for paper-based accommodations.
How many answers does a paper SAT practice test have?
120: two Reading and Writing modules of 33 questions each and two Math modules of 27 each. The digital SAT has 98, so a paper answer sheet needs more lines than you might expect.
How do I score a paper SAT practice test?
Count your correct answers per module with the answer key in the scoring guide, add the two modules for each section, and convert each raw score with that test's conversion table. Add the lower and upper values to get your total score range.
Why does my paper practice test give a score range instead of one number?
College Board's scoring guide says the paper method is a simplified, slightly less precise version of how the SAT itself is scored. The range reflects that, so read the middle of it as your estimate.
