SAT Advanced Math Practice (Digital SAT, With Answers)

SAT advanced math practice with a live set plus eight worked quadratics, exponents, and functions. The harder half of SAT Math.

SAT Advanced Math Practice (Digital SAT, With Answers)

SAT advanced math practice is the nonlinear domain on Digital SAT Math: about 13 to 15 scored questions, roughly 35% of the section. Quadratics, exponentials, polynomials, radicals, and other nonlinear functions. The live set below is the artifact.

These are the same kind of items as a Larry Learns advanced math quiz: eight below, five per session in the app, then a streak. In Larry Learns' own question bank, Advanced Math has the lowest accuracy of the SAT domains we track, at about 64% across 680 answers (pulled 2026-08-27). That is our data and our users, not College Board's. Linear work belongs on SAT algebra practice. Mixed sets live on SAT math practice questions.

How SAT Advanced Math Practice Works

College Board's Math overview lists four domains: Algebra (13 to 15 questions), Advanced Math (13 to 15), Problem-Solving and Data Analysis (5 to 7), and Geometry and Trigonometry (5 to 7). Math is 44 questions in 70 minutes, two 35-minute modules. Source: The Math Section: Overview. The educator alignment page puts those shares at about 35%, 35%, 15%, and 15%. Source: Math Specifications. College Board's Advanced Math list includes absolute value, quadratic, exponential, polynomial, rational, radical, and other nonlinear equations. That is the jump after lines. Graphing a quadratic is often the check; the algebra is still the point. The next SAT dates after this update are October 3, 2026, November 7, 2026, and December 5, 2026. The bank is 25,000+ questions on iPhone, Android, and the web with the same account. Free accounts get three quizzes a day, five questions by default. Ace at $19/month removes both daily caps.

SAT Advanced Math Practice Questions With Answers

Cover the answers. Finish the eight. Then read every explanation. The live set above the fold is a fresh draw from the same skill.

1. What are the solutions of x^2 - 5x + 6 = 0?

  • A) -2 and -3
  • B) 1 and 6
  • C) 2 and 3
  • D) 5 and 6

Answer: C. (x - 2)(x - 3) = 0. 1 and 6 multiply to 6 but add to 7.

2. If f(x) = 2^x, what is f(4)?

  • A) 8
  • B) 16
  • C) 32
  • D) 64

Answer: B. 2^4 = 16. 8 is 2^3. 32 is 2^5.

3. Which expression is equivalent to (x + 3)(x - 3)?

  • A) x^2 - 9
  • B) x^2 + 9
  • C) x^2 - 6x + 9
  • D) x^2 + 6x - 9

Answer: A. Difference of squares. C is (x - 3)^2.

4. If sqrt(x + 5) = 4, what is x?

  • A) -1
  • B) 9
  • C) 11
  • D) 21

Answer: C. Square both sides: x + 5 = 16, so x = 11. 9 is 4^2 minus 7.

5. The vertex of y = (x - 2)^2 + 5 is which point?

  • A) (2, 5)
  • B) (-2, 5)
  • C) (2, -5)
  • D) (5, 2)

Answer: A. Vertex form y = (x - h)^2 + k. The sign on h trips people into B.

6. A population doubles every 3 years from 50. Which model matches after t years?

  • A) 50(2)^(t)
  • B) 50(2)^(t/3)
  • C) 50(3)^(t/2)
  • D) 100t

Answer: B. The exponent is the number of doubling periods, t/3. A doubles every year.

7. If x^2 + 4x + 4 = 0, how many distinct real solutions?

  • A) 0
  • B) 1
  • C) 2
  • D) 4

Answer: B. (x + 2)^2 = 0, a repeated root. Distinct count is 1.

8. Which is equivalent to 3(x^2 - 2) + x^2?

  • A) 4x^2 - 2
  • B) 4x^2 - 6
  • C) 3x^2 - 2
  • D) x^2 - 6

Answer: B. 3x^2 - 6 + x^2 = 4x^2 - 6. A forgets to distribute the 3 onto 2.

A Week of Five-Question Passes

Advanced Math is the lowest-accuracy SAT domain in our own bank, at about 64% across 680 answers (pulled 2026-08-27). That is not a reason to avoid it. It is a reason to name the costume. Monday: factor two quadratics by hand, then check zeros in Desmos. Tuesday: exponent and exponential growth only. The exponent is the number of growth periods, not the number of years. Wednesday: vertex form. Write (h, k) before you graph. Thursday: equivalent expressions. Distribute the 3 onto both terms. Friday: this page's eight. Saturday: one Bluebook Math module, skip nothing in Advanced Math even if it feels slow. Sunday: rest or a five-question advanced pass. A week of this beats a playlist of quadratic videos you will not finish. If a radical still looks like a foreign language, open Khan for that one lesson, then come back here for the items.

The Digital SAT Math section is 70 minutes, 44 questions, two modules. Reading and Writing is 64 minutes. A five-question pass is not the whole test. It is the amount that actually happens after homework. Log the letter, the domain, and one short reason. That note is the next day's set. start a free practice set is the loop. create a free account keeps the streak on this device and on a Chromebook with the same account.

Frequently Asked Questions About SAT Advanced Math Practice

What counts as SAT advanced math practice?

Nonlinear work: quadratics, exponentials, polynomials, radicals, and equivalent nonlinear expressions. Lines are Algebra.

How many Advanced Math questions are on the SAT?

College Board lists 13 to 15, about 35% of Math, the same size as Algebra.

Why is Advanced Math harder in Larry's bank?

In our own question bank, observed accuracy is about 64% across 680 answers, the lowest of the SAT domains we track. That is our users on our item mix, not a College Board statistic, and it is why this page exists.

Should I use Desmos on every quadratic?

Use it to check zeros or a vertex. Factoring by hand is faster when the numbers are small.

Is this the same as SAT geometry practice?

No. Geometry and Trigonometry is 5 to 7 questions. Advanced Math is 13 to 15.
