How to Study for the November 7 SAT: Free 6-Week Plan (2026)

Key dates, a week-by-week plan and the free apps that fit it, for students taking the SAT on November 7, 2026.

The November 7, 2026 SAT is about six weeks away, which is enough time to move your score if you practice most days. The best free setup is three tools: Bluebook for a full-length practice test every week or two, Khan Academy for lessons on your weakest skills, and Larry Learns for a five-question quiz with explanations every day on your phone. Register by October 23, 2026 (late registration closes October 27), and your scores arrive November 20.

Six weeks is short enough that the plan matters more than the materials. The students who improve in this window take an early diagnostic, aim their practice at the few skills costing them the most points, and practice a little every day instead of cramming on weekends. The plan below does exactly that, using only free tools.

The Best Apps to Study for the November SAT

Each free tool does one job, and together they cover everything the six weeks need.

  • Bluebook: the College Board app you will take the real test in. It has the official full-length adaptive practice tests. It runs on computers and iPads, not phones, so plan your practice tests at a desk.
  • Khan Academy: free official lessons built with College Board. Use it to learn a skill you are missing, not for daily volume.
  • Larry Learns: the daily practice layer on your phone. Each quiz is five questions with a step-by-step explanation on every one, from a bank of 25,000+ SAT and ACT practice questions, with a streak that keeps you coming back. It is free for three quizzes a day on iPhone, Android and the web.

If you only add one app for the days between practice tests, add Larry Learns: it turns the six weeks into a daily habit instead of a weekend cram. Compare every option in our best SAT prep apps guide.

How to Spend Each Study Day

  1. Warm up with one quiz. Five questions on your weakest skill, about ten minutes.
  2. Read every explanation you got wrong or guessed. Write the trap in one line so you recognize it next time.
  3. Learn one thing. One Khan Academy lesson on the skill behind your misses.
  4. Close with a second quiz on the same skill if you have time, to check that the lesson stuck.

On practice test days, skip the routine. Take the test under real timing, then review every miss the same day while you still remember your reasoning. Our guide to studying for the SAT goes deeper on review.

What to Do the Week of the Test

The last week is for staying sharp, not for learning new material. Keep one short quiz a day so your brain stays in test mode, and stop taking full-length tests after your last Bluebook practice test. Make sure Bluebook is installed and updated on the device you will bring, that it is charged, and that you can sign in. Print or save your admission ticket, check your test center address and the arrival time, and pack an approved photo ID. The night before, put the books away and sleep. A rested brain reads more carefully, and careful reading is worth more points than one more hour of cramming.

On test morning, eat something, arrive early, and do a few easy warm-up questions on your phone before you go in, if your center allows it before check-in. Then trust the six weeks of work.

If You Are Starting Late

With three weeks or less, skip the lessons and focus on practice: one Bluebook test right away, daily quizzes on the two sections that cost you the most, and a second Bluebook test in the final week. A short, focused plan still beats walking in cold.
